    Found this on HF Underground:

    “Hi All,

Many thanks for the interest in Magic. We are currently still testing things and getting a fair bit of behind the scenes work done. We hope to launch with a normal schedule on November 1st

We will of course be delighted to receive reception reports and to send out QSL’s once we are up and running.

If you could just give us a couple of weeks to get things sorted we will make sure all reports are responded to

Our website can be found at http://www.magic6205.com

Until launch we will be testing with a combination of automated music and relays of our friends at Laser Hot Hits who will be playing a part in our full time schedule once launched.

Transmissions will be interrupted a fair bit between now and November for technical work

Many thanks for your understanding and interest

    The Magic team“

..and than read this Articel from original “Magic AM“.
Now there are two Magic’s into the Air???
If this real,i think that’s no good decission to use same Names, unlike we are pirates but every broadcaster should have his one thing!
    Greeting’s!

  2. Magic AM Says:

    Hello there,

Yes, Magic AM from Amsterdam has been on air since 1996 !!!

So this „new“ Magic is using our name.

This certainly is NO go decision. Could you be so kind to ask these guys to change their stationname ?

We have been on air for 18 years under the namen of MAGIC and have invested a lot in jingles etc…

If they want to get in though with us, our mailadress is magicamradio@gmail.com

Unbelievable that they ‚just started‘ with this name, and did not look if the name was already used. Magic AM is mentioned in a lot of RR online, and also recordings of Magic AM are to be found on youtube and several pirate-radio-pages aswell.

We, from THE REAL Magic AM are not pleased at all with this copy-cat.

    Thanks !!

  3. Simon Says:

Hi, I have nothing to do with these stations, but I think it is a bit ridiculous to ask them to change a name because of „unwritten codes“, what can you expect in a messy free pirate radio scene ? That name is not the original great idea of the century, so why bother ? Shortwave radio is declining so much anyway that it is just remarkable that there is any new regular activity somehow.

  4. Magic AM Says:

Hi, I do totally not agree with your idea of the changing of a name of an NEW station, which has just gone on air is ridiculous.
It seems very strange to us to give your new station exactly the same name another station is using vor more than 18 years.
Furthermore, shortwave pirate-radio is booming like never before, and especially 48 mb is crawling with radiostations, so we do not agree with you on that also.

But, if names don’t matter, perhaps it would be good to all use the same name ? In Holland there are at least 500 pirate-radiostations active on AM-bands.
Don’t you think this would become one big mess then ?

Our mailbox is running full with RR’s which are for the copy cat-station. Our P.O.Box had 12 RR’s as well which are not for us.

Our hobby and passion is free radio, not working in a post-office getting letters and mails for transmissions whe have not done.

The name certainly is not original. But, on shortwave, there used to be only 1 Magic, as there is only one Telstar ( which is also not Original ) and one Thunderbird ( which is not Original ).
Does a name always have to be Original to be used only once ? Does a name always have to be the Original great idea of the century ? What would be the Original great idea of the century in your opinion ?

So, Simon, we have offered the other Magic new professional jingles if they are to change their name, So far, they do not reply to any of or requests.

To use your words : We are not expecting anything, but at least in Holland pirate stations do not use each others name, and are always open for a honest discussion.

    Kind regards,

    Magic AM
